Privacy

Your information. Our Policies.

This is a grassroots campaign website, not a store and not a government portal. If you write us, donate, volunteer, or ask for updates, we will treat that information like it belongs to you, and we will only use it to run this campaign and to follow Florida law.

Who we are

This Privacy Policy covers scottjewett.com and the official online forms, emails, and pages used by Scott Jewett for Governor and Nicole Skelly for Lieutenant Governor (together, “the campaign,” “we,” or “us”).

Scott Jewett is the Libertarian candidate for Governor of Florida. Nicole Skelly is the Libertarian candidate for Lieutenant Governor. We trust people more than government. That includes how we handle the information you choose to give us.

Questions about this policy: use the Contact page at scottjewett.com or email the campaign at [INSERT CAMPAIGN EMAIL]. Do not publish this page until that address is real.

The short version

You can read the site without creating an account.

We collect what you type into a form, donate, volunteer, Stay Informed, contact, plus basic technical data the site needs to run.

If you donate, Florida campaign-finance law requires us to report certain information. That is public. We did not invent that rule.

We do not sell your name, email, phone number, or donor file to commercial marketers.

A gift supports this campaign. It does not buy access, a favor, or a job.

You can stop campaign emails. Transactional receipts and legally required notices are different.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you use Donate, Volunteer, Stay Informed, Contact, event RSVPs, or other forms, you may give us:

Name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.

City, county, and ZIP code.

Occupation and employer, asked on donation forms because Florida reporting rules use that information.

Donation amount, payment method type, and billing details. Full card numbers are handled by our payment processor, not stored by us.

Volunteer interests, availability, and skills you choose to share.

Messages, questions, and anything else you type into a form or email.

Photos or comments you send us on purpose for the campaign to use.

Information collected automatically

IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system.

Pages viewed, links clicked, referring site, and approximate city or region from IP.

Date and time of visits.

Cookies and similar tools used to keep the site working, remember a form, or measure what pages people actually read.

Information from other sources

We may receive limited information from:

Our donation processor, email vendor, form tool, or website host — only what those tools need to complete the action you started.

Public campaign-finance reports and other public records.

The Libertarian Party of Florida or allied volunteer efforts, if you already gave them permission to share a signup.

We do not buy secret dossiers on you. We also do not need a voter-file dump sitting on this website.

How we use it

We use this information to:

Process donations and send a receipt.

File campaign-finance reports required by Florida law.

Answer you when you write us.

Sign you up to volunteer, attend an event, or receive updates you asked for.

Tell Floridians who the ticket is, what we will do, and how to help — including email and, if you opt in, text messages.

Keep the website working, fix errors, and see which pages help people take action.

Prevent fraud, chargebacks, and abuse.

Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and protect the campaign, donors, volunteers, and the public.

Florida campaign-finance reporting

This is a campaign for Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Florida. It is a state race. Donor reporting is governed by Chapter 106, Florida Statutes, and the Florida Division of Elections — not by a generic “business privacy” template.

Candidates must report contributions. Reports include the full name and address of each contributor. For contributions over $100, occupation is also reported. Those reports are public. If you donate above that threshold, your name, address, occupation, and amount can appear in public filings.

That is the tradeoff the law makes so people can see who funds campaigns. We will not pretend otherwise.

Cash contributions are limited by Florida law. Do not mail cash to the website. Use the official donate form or the instructions the campaign publishes.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to companies that want to pitch you a product.

We may share information with:

Service vendors who run the site, process donations, send email, host forms, or provide analytics. They get only what they need to do that job.
The Florida Division of Elections and other government offices when the law requires a report or a response.

The Libertarian Party of Florida or coordinated campaign work for this ticket, when sharing a volunteer or signup list actually helps elect Scott and Nicole.

Professional advisors such as a treasurer, compliance consultant, or lawyer bound to keep campaign records.

A successor campaign committee only if this committee is reorganized under the same ticket and Florida law allows the transfer.

We may also share information if you ask us to, or if we must do so to protect someone’s safety or to respond to a valid legal process.

Email, updates, and texts

If you join Stay Informed or check an updates box, we will send campaign news, events, and asks. Every mass email will include a way to unsubscribe. You can also write us and ask to be removed from the list.

Unsubscribing stops campaign updates. It does not erase a donation record we are required to keep, and it does not stop a receipt or a legally required notice.

Text messages — use only if a program exists

If you opt in to campaign texts:

Message frequency varies.

Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help.

Consent to texts is not required to donate or volunteer.

We will not sell your text opt-in, consent, or related mobile information to third parties. Vendors who actually send the texts are not a “sale.”
Florida law has separate rules for political telephone and text ads, including “Paid for by” language on certain messages. We will follow those rules.

Cookies and analytics

The site may use cookies and similar tools to:

Keep a page or form working (necessary cookies).

Remember a preference, such as a cookie banner choice.

Count visits and see which pages people use (analytics).

You can block non-essential cookies in your browser. The site may work less smoothly if you do. We do not use your visit to this site to build a commercial advertising profile to sell to other businesses.

If we use a tool such as Google Analytics, it is to understand whether the site is doing its job — not to run a retail storefront.

Your choices

Read the site without submitting a form.

Give us only the fields a form requires.

Unsubscribe from campaign emails.

Ask us to correct a name, email, or address we use to contact you.

Ask what campaign-contact information we have on you, subject to the records we must keep under Florida law.

We may not delete a donation record, occupation field, or other data that campaign-finance law requires us to keep and report. We can stop using your email for updates.

To make a request, use the Contact page or email [INSERT CAMPAIGN EMAIL] with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We will verify that the request is really from you before changing a record.

State privacy laws

Some states have consumer privacy statutes written for businesses that sell data. This committee is a political campaign. We do not sell personal information for money. We do not use this website as a commercial store.

If a law still gives you a right we can honor without breaking Florida campaign-finance rules, write us and we will handle it in good faith. Campaign-finance reports already filed cannot be unpublished by a website form.

Security and retention

We use reasonable safeguards — encrypted connections on the site, limited staff access, and vendors who are supposed to protect payment data. No website is perfectly safe. Do not send Social Security numbers, passwords, or extra financial details by ordinary email.

We keep information as long as the campaign needs it to communicate, comply with law, handle disputes, and close out the committee. Florida record-retention rules for campaign reports apply even after Election Day.

Children

This site is for adults who can vote, donate, and volunteer. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent believes a child submitted a form, write us and we will delete what the law allows us to delete.

Links to other sites

The site may link to donation processors, social networks, the Libertarian Party of Florida, news stories, or government pages. Those sites have their own rules. Read theirs before you submit information there.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new date. If the change is material, we may also note it by email or a site banner. Keep using the site after an update only if you accept the new policy.

Website terms

By using scottjewett.com, you agree to these terms.

What this site is

This website is a political campaign site for Scott Jewett for Governor and Nicole Skelly for Lieutenant Governor. Content is campaign speech and general information. It is not legal, tax, insurance, or medical advice. It is not a government service.

Use the site lawfully

Do not break the law on this site. Do not try to hack it, scrape it at scale, plant malware, harvest emails, impersonate the campaign, or interfere with donations and forms. We can block access if you abuse the site.

Your content

If you send comments, photos, volunteer stories, or testimonials, you give the campaign permission to use them to run this race — on the site, in email, and in ads — unless you tell us in writing that a specific item is private.

Intellectual property

Campaign text, design, logos, and video belong to the campaign or to people who licensed them to us. You may share pages and quote short passages with credit. Do not copy the site as if it were yours.

Donations

Contributions are not tax-deductible. Florida law governs who may give and what must be reported. By donating, you confirm you are using your own lawful funds and the information on the form is true. A donation supports the campaign. It does not buy access, a favor, or a job.

No guarantees

The site is provided as-is. Politics moves. Pages change. We are not liable for a lost volunteer shift, a delayed email, a processor outage, or your decision to rely on a web page instead of official election instructions from your Supervisor of Elections.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Venue is in Florida.
