Meet Nicole
Libertarian Candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Florida, 2026
Nicole Skelly is a lifelong Floridian, a mom, a small business owner, and a volunteer who has spent her life filling needs she sees in front of her. She did not grow up dreaming of political office. She grew up learning a simple rule: if you see a need, you fill it. She is running for Lieutenant Governor with Scott Jewett because she loves this state, loves its people, and will not wait on the two major parties to protect either one.

A Lifelong Floridian Who Shows Up
Nicole was born in Altamonte Springs and raised in Florida. She believes Florida is the best state in the country, and she knows the rest of America watches what happens here. That is not a slogan for her. It is the reason she keeps showing up.
The habit started early. In sixth grade, she helped raise money so families in her community could have Christmas. After college, she kept doing the same kind of work. Through her job and as a member of a Krewe in Tampa, she baked for homeless shelters and raised money every holiday season so families could put food on the table. That was how she was raised. You take care of people.
“I didn’t grow up dreaming of political office. I grew up learning that if you see a need, you fill it.”
Mom, Homeschooler, and Small-Business Partner
When their children were young, Nicole chose to stay home. She even homeschooled their son for a couple of years. She has always worked best with a full plate, so she also took over the books and the day to day of the family business.
Nicole and her husband have owned and operated a carpentry company in Florida since 2007. They know what it means to make payroll. They know what it feels like when a new rule from Tallahassee costs time and money a small shop does not have. They have kept that business alive through good years and hard ones.
That is the Florida Nicole knows: parents stretching a day to cover kids and a business, owners who cannot pass a new cost on to anyone else, and families who do not have a lobbyist in the room when the government makes the next rule.
Finding the Party That Already Matched Her Beliefs
Almost a decade ago, Nicole walked away from the two party system for good. She looked until she found the only party whose principles matched what she believed the Founders actually meant: a government that stays small, respects your freedom, and stops treating taxpayers like an open wallet. That party is the Libertarian Party.
Looking back, she says she was a Libertarian all along. She just did not have the name for it yet.
Then COVID hit. She watched government grow, waste pile up, and ordinary Floridians get crushed: parents working extra shifts, small-business owners fighting to keep the lights on, nurses on long hours, and workers who did not have a loud enough voice. Serving her community, working hard, and raising a family was no longer enough. Counting on others was no longer an option. She had to do more.
“I finally decided the only way to protect the people and the state I love is to stop looking to the two major parties to do it for us.”
Service That Did Not Stop When Politics Started
Nicole has served as a member of the Libertarian Party of Florida Executive Committee and as Chair of the Santa Rosa County affiliate. She kept doing what she has always done: raising money for organizations including Special Olympics Florida, and helping build beds for children through Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
She has also spent days and nights in county and district meetings pushing back when government steps on people’s rights. Some of those fights have been won. That work is not a campaign stunt. It is the same service mindset she learned in sixth grade, only now the need is freedom itself.
“As a Libertarian, I believe in a government that stays small, respects your freedom, and stops treating taxpayers like an endless ATM.”
Why Nicole Is Running for Lieutenant Governor of Florida
Nicole is not a career politician. She is a mom, a small-business owner, and a lifelong volunteer. She is running with Scott Jewett to keep Florida the best state in America by shrinking government overreach, ending the waste of tax dollars, and restoring the freedom the Founders envisioned.
When Florida leads, the country notices. That is why this race matters to her. If you are tired of the same broken system, she is asking you to join them.
“This is Nicole Skelly. I’m all in for Florida.”

Made a Difference Locally
Stopped the placement of red light cameras in the city of Milton. The Libertarians before me started this before I joined. I can’t take full credit. Stopped mandatory fire inspections on people’s homes that short term rented them in Santa Rosa County. That was all me. Pushed back on forced septic to sewer ordinance at the Santa Rosa BOCC. Alot of people were involved in this. This ordinance failed. Pushed back on the TPLE tax on short term rentals in Santa Rosa county. This was me and others in the community. TPLE resolution was tabled until the end of the district’s fiscal year which ends at the end of September. I need to go to their September meeting and see what’s going on with that. Joined other groups to give a voice to Joy Zuraff in Santa Rosa county. I was not a leader in this, but an advocate. Joy Zuraff’s child was medicallyc kidnapped by the state. If you watch the bodycam footage of DCF taking her child you will get very angry. I found out this is actually a big problem in our state. I will be advocating for child welfare reform.
Why Libertarian
